Thallus brownish to green or grey, corticate. Ascomata solitary or 2–5 joined together with fused ostioles, hemispherical, often distinctly elongate, erumpent from the substratum, superficial or the sides covered by the thallus, 0.3–0.8 mm wide, 0.2–0.4 mm tall; ostiole brown, conical, lateral, 50–120 μm diam. Hamathecium IKI+ blue. Asci 50–70 × 10–12 μm, with a rounded ocular chamber. Ascospores 8 per ascus, irregularly biseriate, colourless, fusiform, with subacute ends, 3-distoseptate, symmetrically septate, 10–18 × 4.0–7.5 μm; lumina rounded; endospore 1–3 μm thick. Occurs on trees in lowland areas of northern N.T. and eastern Qld; also on Christmas Island and Lord Howe Island; often somewhat exposed. Mainly pantropical, it is apparently most common in India. | ||
