| Thallus adnate, 2-4 cm wide. Lobes contiguous or becoming imbricate, sublinear to sublinear-elongate, irregularly branched, 1-2 mm wide; margins entire to crenate, ±laciniate, apices ±incised to rotund, eciliate. Upper surface pale grey to grey, apices brown at margins, dull centrally, shiny towards the apices, smooth, lacking isidia or soredia. Medulla white. Lower surface black, shiny, smooth, rhizinate; rhizines black, simple to sparsely branched, sparse to moderately dense. Apothecia not seen. Pycnidia immersed, scattered. Conidia bifusiform, 5.5-9 x 1-1.3 µm. CHEMISTRY: Cortex K+ yellow, medulla K+ yellow, C-, P+ orange/pale red; containing atranorin (minor), stictic acid (major), constictic acid (minor), cryptostictic acid (trace), peristictic acid (trace), norstictic acid (trace). | ||
