Xanthoparmelia huttonii (Louwhoff & Elix) Elix
     
  Mycotaxon 87: 399 (2003); Paraparmelia huttonii Louwhoff & Elix, Mycotaxon 68: 439 (1998). T: Lord Howe Island, between Little Island and The Cross, 31°34’18”S, 159°04’30”E, 120 m, on basalt rocks, amongst large boulders with scattered large Ficus, small shrubs and ferns, J.A.Elix 42285, 7 February 1995 (CANB).  
     
  Thallus adnate, 2-4 cm wide.  Lobes contiguous or becoming imbricate, sublinear to sublinear-elongate, irregularly branched, 1-2 mm wide; margins entire to crenate, ±laciniate, apices ±incised to rotund, eciliate.  Upper surface pale grey to grey, apices brown at margins, dull centrally, shiny towards the apices, smooth, lacking isidia or soredia.  Medulla white.  Lower surface black, shiny, smooth, rhizinate; rhizines black, simple to sparsely branched, sparse to moderately dense.  Apothecia not seen.  Pycnidia immersed, scattered.  Conidia bifusiform, 5.5-9 x 1-1.3 µm. CHEMISTRY: Cortex K+ yellow, medulla K+ yellow, C-, P+ orange/pale red; containing atranorin (minor), stictic acid (major), constictic acid (minor), cryptostictic acid (trace), peristictic acid (trace), norstictic acid (trace).
     
  Paraparmelia huttonii is known only from the type collection, on basalt rocks in subtropical rainforest in Lord Howe Is.
