Xanthoparmelia bourgeanica (Elix) Elix
     
  Mycotaxon 87: 398 (2003); Paraparmelia bourgeanica Elix, Mycotaxon 59: 410 (1996). T: Western Australia. Slopes of Angwin Peak, Porongurups Range, Porongurups National Park, 19 km ESE of Mt Barker, 34°40'S, 117°51'E, 360 m, on granite rocks, J. A. Elix 41319, H. T. Lumbsch & H. Streimann, 17 Sept. 1994; holo: CANB.  
     
  Thallus small-foliose to subcrustose, adnate, saxicolous, forming irregular rosettes to 1.5 cm wide.  Lobes rarely imbricate, radiating at the apices, sublinear, subdichotomously branched, 0.3-0.6 (-1.0) mm wide.  Upper surface pale ash-grey, black-marginate towards the lobe apices, flat, smooth and shiny at the tips, becoming dull within, emaculate, developing dense granular pruina subapically, lacking soredia and isidia; older lobes becoming rugose and areolate.  Medulla white.  Lower surface pale tan to brown, darker towards the apices; rhizines sparse, simple, thick, to 0.2 mm long, concolorous.  Pycnidia and apothecia not seen. CHEMISTRY: Cortex K+ yellow; medulla K-, C-, P-; containing usnic acid, bourgeanic acid (major), conbourgeanic acid (minor).
