| Thallus adnate, to 2–6 cm wide. Lobes imbricate, variable, sublinear-elongate to subirregular and apically rounded, sometimes subdichotomously branched, 1–3 mm wide; cilia sparse to moderately dense, 0.1–0.15 mm long, black. Upper surface brownish grey to pale grey, ±flat, shiny, emaculate, smooth, without soredia; isidia moderately dense to dense, cylindrical, erect, often branched, less than 0.5 mm high. Medulla white. Lower surface black; rhizines moderately dense, shiny, simple, black. Apothecia and pycnidia not seen. CHEMISTRY: cortex K+ yellow; medulla K-, C-, KC-, P-; containing atranorin, chloroatranorin, lichesterinic acid and protolichesterinic acid. | ||
