Thallus to 3–5 cm wide. Lobes sublinear, irregularly branched, narrow, 0.8–1.5 mm wide. Upper surface pale ash-grey, dull, flat or shallowly pitted, slightly cobwebby under strong magnification (x 50), emaculate; isidia short, granulose, degenerating and coalescing to form a dense mass of soredia in centre of thallus. Lower surface ivory to pale brown; rhizines moderately dense to dense, simple, tufted or not, concolorous. Apothecia not seen. Pycnidia emergent at or near margins, to 0.1 mm wide. Mature conidia not seen. CHEMISTRY: cortex K+ yellow; medulla K-, C-, KC+ red, P-; containing atranorin, chloroatranorin and evernic acid. | ||
This very rare endemic is currently only known from the type collection. Grows on dead wood. | ||
