Thallus ±pulvinate, 1–5 cm wide, 70–500 µm thick, leaden grey, or blackened. Lobes ±anastomosing, rotund to oblong, ascending to erect, ±plicate or conduplicate and twisted, variably thickened; apices ±recurved; margins entire, thickened, ±plicate ±obscure; surfaces matt, prominently wrinkled and ridged; isidia absent; wrinkles ±intricately plicate, appearing convoluted, anastomosing, forming pycnidial conidiomata-tipped lobules or accessory lobes. Lower surface with sparse minute holdfasts. Apothecia submarginal, 1.5–4 mm wide, immersed to upper margin of thalline exciple in ±pedicel like, thickened tissue; disc concave to flat, reddish brown; thalline exciple cream. Ascospores ellipsoidal to broadly ellipsoidal, muriform, 22–35 × 12–15 µm; apices acute. Pycnidia submarginal to marginal. Conidia 2–5 µm long; apices swollen. | ||
A rare species in Papua New Guinea and N Qld, growing on bark of trees in savannah woodlands or at the edges of poor rainforest. | ||
