| Basal squamules small, inconspicuous, 0.5–2 mm long, 0.25–0.5 mm diam., lobed, with crenate margins. Podetia growing from basal squamules, 1–2 cm tall, 1–2, rarely to 3 mm diam., simple, subulate or cylindrical, or with narrow terminal scyphi or branching near apices to form deformed scyphi, ecorticate, partly or completely squamulose; squamules well defined, 1–2 mm long near podetia base, becoming 0.2–0.5 mm long near apices, finally isidioid or granular. Apothecia uncommon, marginal on scyphi, 1–3 mm diam., convex, brown. Pycnidia uncommon, marginal on scyphi, c. 0.2 × 0.2 mm, subconical, black. CHEMISTRY: K-, KC-, P+ red. Fumarprotocetraric (major) and protocetraric (trace) acids. | ||
| Occurs in Qld, N.S.W., A.C.T. and Vic; also in south-western North America, South and Central America, Africa, Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia; grows on soil or dead wood. | ||
