Wood, Alec Edward (1933 - 2016)Born on 10 September 1933; died on 23 March 2016 at Peakhurst, NSW.
He was a mycologist affiliated with the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia who published major studies, describing a large number of new species, in the genera Galerina and Amanita.
His PhD thesis with UNSW in 1962 was titled: "The structure and composition of the fungal cell with particular reference to the cell wall".
With Tom May, he co-authored Fungi of Australia Volume 2A, Catalogue and Bibliography of Australian Macrofungi - Basidiomycota in 1997.
