Wheeler, Judith Roderick (Judy)   (1944 - )

Born in 1944 in Cardiff, Wales, UK;

After receiving an honours degree in botanical science, she was employed at the State Herbarium of South Australia, before moving to Western Australia's Murdoch University and later the West Australian Herbarium.

She was the leading fiqure in the production of the three regional Western Australian Floras.

She has reflected on the experience:

"Twenty years of my botanical career were devoted to the production of the regional Floras of Western Australia.

The project was initiated in 1981 by John Green and taken to fruition by Neville Marchant.

Flora of the Perth Region was published in 1987, Flora of the Kimberley Region in 1992 and Flora of the South West in 2002.

With Neville, I was co-editor of the Perth volumes, and I was the principal editor for the Kimberley and South West projects.

Barbara Rye and I shared the main writing for the first two projects, and I was assisted by writers Eleanor Bennett, Beverley Koch, Annette Wilson and Margaret Lewington, and by my fellow botanists at the Herbarium."
