Reynolds, Sally T. (1932 - )Born in 1932 in Burma (Myanmar).
Details regarding her family background, early interests, and formal education remain largely undocumented in available public records.
She joined the Queensland Herbarium in Brisbane during the 1970s, where she advanced to the position of principal botanist, overseeing taxonomic research and contributing to the institution's collections on native flora.
Her work involved curation, specimen identification, and management of herbarium resources, particularly in support of systematic studies. Her career flourished through the 1970s and 1980s, with her work centered at the Queensland Herbarium until her retirement prior to 2006.
Reynolds specialized in Sapindaceae early in her career, publishing detailed notes on the family in Australia, including identifications, synonymies, and typifications of genera such as Alectryon, Cupaniopsis, and Diploglottis.
Her 1987 description of Diploglottis bernieana S.T.Reynolds, a rare tree endemic to the Wet Tropics of northeastern Queensland, exemplifies her focus on this family, highlighting its ecological significance in tropical rainforests.
Later, Reynolds turned to Rubiaceae, co-authoring a comprehensive revision of the genus Psydrax Gaertn. in Australia, which recognized 22 species (including 13 new ones) and resolved long-standing nomenclatural issues from historical treatments.
Paul Forster named Synima reynoldsiae in recognition of her work on the species.
