- 1966 Northmead High School NSW; Leaving Certificate .
- 1966-1969 University of Sydney: B.Sc. Hons. (majors in Botany, taxonomy-ecology, and Genetics)
- Feb. 1971 University of Adelaide: Course in Rangeland Ecology.
- 1970-1977 (Full and Part-time) University of Melbourne, Ph.D. in Plant Taxonomy and Ecology.

December 1978 - PhD Thesis: "Taxonomy of Atriplex vesicaria and related species".

Employment: - Department of Conservation, Forests and Lands.

1977 Investigations Officer.
Review of vegetation survey methods; development of a standard set of methods. Field surveys of vegetation in new Parks and areas proposed as Parks (Point Nepean, Greens Bush, Kinglake).

1978 Investigations Officer SO-1.
Vegetation Survey of Holey Plains State Park, Gippsland.

1978 - 1979 Investigations Officer SO-1.
Management of a four-man study team to map and describe vegetation at potential development sites in Croajingolong National Park.

1979 Investigations Officer SO-1.
In the Park Management Branch, to investigate and report on technical aspects of Park management.

1979 - 1980 Planning Officer SO-3.
Preparation of management plans for Parks and for reporting on statutory planning and related aspects of land use adjacent to Parks.

Work as Assistant Senior Planning Officer, and to undertake more complex planning tasks related to management and statutory planning, occupancies and conflicting land uses.

April 1985 Secondment within Department to prepare a specification for a major Alpine Area Management Planning Project. Involved brief preparation and extensive consultation with all relevant parts of the Department.
